High-temperature nylon for hot, humid operating conditions
PPA (polyphthalamide, high-temperature nylon) replaces the aliphatic diacid of standard nylon with an aromatic one. The chain is stiffer and hydrogen bonding is less dense, so melting point, heat resistance, rigidity and dimensional stability are all higher than PA66 while water absorption is lower. It is mainly used for connectors, SMT electronic parts and load-bearing structural parts that see heat long term. Yilong distributes the full BASF Ultramid® Advanced high-temperature nylon range, from PA66/6T to PA9T, with grade selection and small-batch trials.
Material properties
The figures below are range values for the whole PPA family, taken from the limits of the individual series: the high melting point and low water absorption that come from the aromatic structure are the underlying difference against PA66. Physical property values for a specific grade are available from our sales team.
Product series
The series are divided by chemical structure: the higher the aromatic content, the better the heat resistance and dimensional stability, and the higher the processing demands. T7000 is a PA/PPA alloy aimed at metal replacement. Specific grades and property data are available from our sales team.
Advanced N (PA9T)
The strongest chemical resistance and dimensional stability and the lowest water absorption, with the best strength retention under long-term heat.
Advanced T1000 (PA6T/6I)
The highest melting point and rigidity, for high-temperature load-bearing structural parts and metal replacement.
Advanced T2000 (PA6T/66)
High flow and high dimensional stability, with outstanding blister-free performance in SMT reflow.
T KR (PA6T/6)
Lower mould temperature requirement, good toughness and a wide processing window — the lowest-cost move away from PA66.
T6000 (PA66/6T)
Bridges PA66 and PPA at a good cost-performance ratio, for high-volume electrical and electronic parts.
T7000 (PA/PPA alloy)
Higher rigidity and strength than PA66 with low water absorption and low creep — the first choice for metal replacement.

Typical applications
PPA's main battleground is where high temperature, humidity and electrical current occur together — exactly the places where PA66 loses strength to moisture pick-up and softens because its heat resistance is not enough.
Connectors and terminals
Automotive and industrial connectors, FAKRA RF connectors, Type-C, DDR memory sockets
EV high-voltage parts
High-voltage connectors, busbar supports, terminal blocks, balancing CTI against long-term heat ageing
SMT electronic parts
Camera module brackets, SIM card holders, touch switches, thin-wall electronic housings
Electrical insulation
Circuit breakers, relays, coil formers, switch housings
Metal replacement
Laptop structural parts, AR glasses frames, lightweight load-bearing parts
Powertrain and e-drive
Motor end plates, BMS housings, quick connectors for e-drive cooling lines
From grade selection to volume production
Injection moulding
Melt temperature 280–350 °C and mould temperature 80–160 °C, chosen by series: PA9T and PA6T/6I need the higher mould temperatures.
Drying and moisture control
Nylons pick up moisture, so the resin has to be thoroughly dried before moulding; wet material directly affects appearance, strength and reflow performance.
Grade selection and trials
We match the grade to your service temperature, contact media, flame-retardant rating and colour, and support small trial quantities.
Project support
SMT reflow process validation and colour approval, with data sheets and compliance documents supplied with shipments.
The Ultramid® Advanced range offers JEDEC MSL 1 reflow performance with no blistering, together with low-halogen flame-retardant options; data sheets, UL certification information and compliance documents are available from our sales team. If you need help selecting PPA, POM or PEEK, just send us your operating conditions.
