About this material

Masterbatch is a pellet in which pigment or additive is dispersed at high concentration in a resin carrier. It is blended with the base resin at a set let-down ratio to give even colour or a functional effect. Against loose pigment powder it disperses more evenly, puts less dust into the plant and holds the addition ratio steady, which suits volume injection moulding and extrusion. Yilong supplies white, black and colour masterbatch, plus antistatic, flame retardant, filler, impact modifier and slip grades, made to your colour reference and end use.

Typical applications

Appliance housings and components, film and packaging, automotive parts, consumer goods and toys, electrical enclosures, woven bags and pipe.

  • Carrier matched to base resin：the carrier should be the same as, or compatible with, the base resin — otherwise dispersion suffers and mechanical properties drop.
  • Concentration and let-down ratio：higher concentration means a lower addition ratio; settle it from the colour depth required and the cost calculation, in practice from the sample result.
  • Sampling and colour control：send a colour reference or code and we colour-match a sample first, then run the batch once it is approved, which keeps batch-to-batch variation in check.
  • Processing temperature：the heat resistance of the pigment or additive has to cover the actual processing temperature, so colour does not shift and the additive does not decompose.
  • End use and compliance：declare food contact, toy or export use up front, so a compliant system can be selected and its test documents supplied with it.
