REACH and ROHS documents updated, now supplied with shipments
We have completed a review and update of our REACH and ROHS documentation. The updated files can be supplied with shipments once an order is placed, without a separate application or a long wait.
For injection moulders and OEM factories, the value of these documents usually sits downstream rather than in the material itself. When a finished product is exported to the EU, or to another market with restrictions on chemical substances, buyers generally ask for compliance evidence from across the supply chain. The raw material becomes part of that finished product, so whether valid REACH and ROHS documents exist can affect whether a consignment clears customs and is delivered on schedule.
In practice, requests tend to fall into two groups: documents needed for export and customs, and documents needed for a customer’s own quality or audit process. The two are not identical, and a file that satisfies one is not always sufficient for the other. Where that is the case, it is better to say so early than after the shipment has left.
Our aim in tidying the documentation was to keep this requirement from becoming an extra burden on the customer. Files are held by grade, so the position can be confirmed at order stage. Versions are kept current, so superseded files are not issued. And where a document alone is not enough — if a specification, test method or declaration needs explaining — your sales contact can put the question to the producer.
One point is worth stating plainly. Test documents reflect the batch submitted at the time of testing; they are not a per-batch guarantee for every subsequent delivery. Customers working to strict factory audit standards, or needing testing per batch, should confirm the terms before ordering so that the arrangement can be made in advance.
The same applies to coverage. Many grade and market combinations are already covered, but that picture changes as regulations and material formulations are updated, and a document that was valid last year may not be the one your buyer asks for this year. For shipments into the EU, obligations under REACH rest mainly with the importer and the downstream user. Our part is to make sure the material documentation you need in order to meet those obligations is available and up to date.
