Plastics for Electrical & Electronics

Electrical and electronic parts carry clear requirements for flame retardancy, insulation and dimensional accuracy. We supply compliant grades with test documents, and provide the material information needed for appliance certification and customer audits.

Common difficulties on electrical and electronic parts

Material requirements for these parts are usually tied to product certification. A mismatch in class or documentation stops the audit process immediately.

Recommended material solutions

Common directions by part function. Flame retardancy class and electrical performance requirements are confirmed against the finished product standard before a grade is chosen.

Documents and support we can provide

Test reports and manufacturer documents are available from your sales contact. We check them against the specific grade before sending, and this site does not offer PDF downloads.

Questions from buyers and engineers

The four questions we are asked most often on electrical and electronics projects.

Note: for materials carrying a flame retardancy class or safety certification, the manufacturer’s test documents are the reference. Grade selection is best completed before certification.

Requirements & pain points

Common requirements and difficulties in Electrical & Electronics

High volumes and strict appearance demands, constrained by product cost and certification cycles.

01

Flame retardancy class must match the certification

Different products specify different flame retardancy classes. The material has to correspond to the certification system of the finished product and carry verifiable test documents.

02

Insulation and safety-critical parts

Switches, sockets and terminal blocks have specific requirements for insulation performance and tracking resistance. Mechanical strength alone is not a sufficient basis for selection.

03

Small precision assemblies

Internal structural parts and bobbins are small with tight fits. Shrinkage and batch stability directly affect assembly yield and consistency.

04

Export compliance as a precondition

Export orders have to meet ROHS and REACH requirements, and test documents are one of the preconditions for taking the order and for shipping.

Documents & support

Documents and support we provide

Test reports and producer documents are available on request — we check them against each grade.

Flame retardancy class and test documents

Flame retardant grades normally have corresponding test reports. The exact form depends on the manufacturer and can be requested.

ROHS / REACH / SGS documents

Provided against the specific grade to support export and customer audit requirements.

Insulation and electrical performance data

We can help obtain the manufacturer's electrical performance data for comparison during selection, subject to manufacturer availability.

Selection and processing advice

Guidance on tool trials and process adjustment, taking into account how the flame retardant system affects flow, colour and weathering.

FAQ

Common purchasing and engineering questions

QCan you provide proof of flame retardancy class?
Flame retardant grades normally come with corresponding test reports. The form depends on the manufacturer; please request them and check the scope they cover.
QDoes flame retardant ABS affect moulding and appearance?
A flame retardant system can change flow, colour and weathering behaviour. A tool trial before volume use is advisable, with barrel temperature and holding pressure adjusted accordingly.
QCan you support customer factory audits?
We can provide the test documents and batch records for the relevant grades. The scope of the audit follows the customer's standard, and we supply documents against their checklist.
QWhat documents are needed for exporting to the EU?
Usually ROHS and REACH related test documents. The precise list follows the customer and destination country requirements, and we help check it item by item.
