Plastics for Packaging

Packaging is driven by thin-wall moulding efficiency and reliable delivery, with contact compliance requirements on top. We supply grades with stable flow and consistent batches, so that changeovers and process adjustments are kept to a minimum.

Common difficulties in packaging moulding

Packaging runs at high volume and continuously, so flow behaviour and batch stability show up directly in reject rates, cycle time and output.

Documents and support we can provide

Test reports and manufacturer documents are available from your sales contact. We check them against the specific grade before sending, and this site does not offer PDF downloads.

Questions from buyers and engineers

The four questions we are asked most often on packaging projects.

Note: grade selection for thin-wall parts is closely tied to wall thickness, flow length ratio and gate design, so tooling information helps before a grade is confirmed.

Requirements & pain points

Common requirements and difficulties in Packaging

High volumes and strict appearance demands, constrained by product cost and certification cycles.

01

Flow for thin-wall, high-speed moulding

Thin-wall parts have long flow paths and short fill times. Insufficient flow causes short shots and a higher reject rate, so grades in the high flow direction are needed.

02

Cycle time and output

Cooling speed and release behaviour affect cycle time, which sits at the centre of a packaging plant's cost structure. Strength and cycle time have to be balanced.

03

Contact compliance and odour

Food and personal care packaging involves contact compliance, odour and migration requirements. A compliant formulation and a complete document set are the precondition for taking the order.

04

Batch stability at high volume

In continuous production, grade variation forces repeated process adjustment and increases waste. Batch consistency matters more than the figures of a single lot.

Documents & support

Documents and support we provide

Test reports and producer documents are available on request — we check them against each grade.

SGS / REACH / ROHS test documents

Provided against the specific grade and available on request for customer audits and shipping requirements.

Food contact compliance documents

Where the part is intended for food contact, the manufacturer's compliance declarations and test documents can be requested.

Single-material and recyclability advice

Where a recyclable single-material structure is wanted, the balance between strength and wall reduction can be evaluated from a PP or PE single-material direction.

Shipping documents and batch records

Supply is organised by batch, with certificate of analysis and related documents where the manufacturer provides them, for incoming inspection.

FAQ

Common purchasing and engineering questions

QWhich grade do you recommend for thin-wall containers?
We usually start from a high flow thin-wall injection grade of PP. The final grade depends on wall thickness, flow length ratio and tool structure, and we can help with the comparison.
QCan you provide food contact compliance documents?
The manufacturer's compliance declarations and test documents can be requested. The scope they cover is defined by the documents themselves.
QWill supply be interrupted? Do you hold stock of general purpose grades?
General purpose grades are supplied from local stock and established channels, which shortens lead times. Please confirm current stock levels and available quantities with your sales contact.
QWe want single-material, recyclable packaging. Any advice?
A single PP or single PE structure is easier to recycle. Wall reduction, strength and sealing requirements can be evaluated together, and we suggest reviewing the structural design before choosing a grade.
